We have been out on more than 200 tours across Far North Queensland. These 37 are the ones we put guests on. It is not a directory of every Cairns tour that exists, and it is not a scrape of a supplier feed. It is the shortlist, and each one has its own page written after going through the operator's own published departure times, inclusions and rates.
A tour earns a place here when it does what it promises. The boat is not overloaded, the crew knows the sites rather than reading them off a card, the price on the day is the price we quoted, and the trip runs when it says it will. Plenty of good operators are not on this list yet. What is here, we book.

That is deliberate: one page per tour means one place to keep current, and it is the page you book from, so the number you see is the number you pay. Amber handles the bookings from Cairns and usually replies the same day. If the weather turns or a boat gets cancelled, that gets sorted out from this end.

How to put a Cairns week together
Most people arrive with more days than plan, and the mistake is nearly always the same one: booking something for every morning. Cairns days are long and hot, and a full reef trip is roughly ten hours door to door once you count the transfer. Two big days back to back is fine. Four in a row is where the trip stops being fun.
The order matters more than the count. Put the reef early in your stay rather than on the last day, because wind is the one thing nobody controls and an early booking leaves room to move it. Reef trips are the first to sell out between June and October, and they are also the first to be cancelled when the trade winds pick up. Everything on land keeps running in weather that stops the boats, so the rainforest and Kuranda days make good backups.
A shape that works for four full days:
- Day one: something local while you adjust. The Esplanade, the northern beaches, or a half-day trip if you landed early.
- Day two: the reef. Full day, outer reef, and nothing planned for that evening.
- Day three: rainforest. The Daintree and Cape Tribulation if you want distance, the Tablelands and the waterfalls if you want swimming.
- Day four: your own pick. Kuranda, a skydive, a canyon, or a second reef day if the first one was the best day of the trip.
If you have a week, add a second water day rather than a second land day. The islands and the outer reef are genuinely different experiences, and people who do both rarely regret it. If you have three days, cut the fourth day rather than the reef.
Travelling with children, with grandparents, or as a group changes which operator suits you far more than which destination does. The boat size, the walk down to the pontoon and whether there is shade on deck matter more than the reef site name. Tell us who is coming and we will point you at the ones that suit.

How many tours should I book for a week in Cairns?
Three or four is the number that works for most people. A reef day, a rainforest day and one thing you would not do anywhere else, with a spare day left over for weather. Booking something every single day sounds efficient and tends to end in an exhausted last morning.
Which tour should I lock in first?
The reef day. It is the one that fills first in the middle of the year, it is the one most affected by wind, and it is the day the rest of a Cairns trip tends to arrange itself around. Everything else has more availability and more flexibility.
Can I book more than one tour in the same booking?
Yes. Send through what you are looking at and we will put the dates in an order that works, so you are not doing an early reef start the morning after a full rainforest day.
What happens if the weather cancels my tour?
If an operator cancels a departure for weather, you are refunded in full or moved to another date, whichever you prefer. That is the one situation where the standard cancellation window does not apply.
