Skypark Cairns by AJ Hackett · Australia's only bungy (50m) + the 45m Minjin swing · Smithfield, ~20 min from Cairns
I send a lot of adrenaline-seekers up to Skypark at Smithfield, and it stays one of my easiest recommendations. This is the only place in the country you can bungy, a 50-metre freefall off a purpose-built tower into a rainforest lagoon, with 16 different jump styles and an optional dunk in the water at the bottom.
Next to it sits the Giant Jungle Swing (the Minjin): 45 metres, nought to 120 km/h in three and a half seconds, and you ride it solo or strapped in with two or three mates, which is where most of the screaming and laughing happens. My advice to almost everyone is the combo, do both, because the swing is the perfect warm-up (or reward) for the jump.
It's about twenty minutes north of the city, transfers are free with every booking, and the crew are calm and reassuring with nervous first-timers. My pick for Cairns' Best Adrenaline Icon.
