Full Day Great Barrier Reef Tour · Cairns
The first thing you notice about Reef Magic Marine World is that it doesn't feel like a reef pontoon that's been repainted every two years. It launched in April 2022, the newest pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef, and the build shows: three levels, 1,003 square metres, floor-to-ceiling glass in the underwater observatory, solar and wind power running the whole platform. We visited on a weekday and were boarding from 8:15am.
The food surprised us most. Ochre Restaurant catered the lunch, Ochre is Cairns' best-known Indigenous-inspired restaurant, and they brought the same level of care to the platform: not a standard buffet but something noticeably more considered. Cultural presentations from Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander guides ran through the day alongside sessions from the resident marine biologist. Five hours at Moore Reef: glass bottom boat, semi-submersible, fish feeding, the observatory, and a kids' pool that kept children occupied the entire time.
The base ticket price isn't shown publicly, you reach checkout before seeing the full cost, which is worth knowing before you start comparing options. Intro dives are available from $138 if booked ahead, saving $20 on the day rate. For older guests and travellers who want more than just snorkelling time, a structured day with good food, cultural content, and multiple things to do, Reef Magic is the strongest answer on the reef.
Prices shown are indicative, confirm final price at checkout.
Not included: Snorkel Experience Tour ($75), Snorkel Safari Tour ($85), introductory dive ($138), certified dive ($127), helmet dive ($138), 10-minute scenic helicopter flight ($165), hotel transfers (from $35 adult / $25 child). Dives and guided snorkels cost more if you leave them until the day.
