Tusa Half Day Review 2026

Every other half-day out of Cairns leaves at lunchtime. Tusa is the exception: check in at 8:40, sail at nine, back at the marina by two. That matters more than it sounds, because it leaves your afternoon free and gets you to the reef before the wind builds.

It also goes to proper outer reef. Saxon and Hastings are the same reefs the full-day boats work, with seven moorings to choose between, and the skipper picks one on the day. You get up to two hours in the water, with a crew briefing and a guided snorkel first.

The trade-off is boat size. Sixty guests is more than double what the smallest operator carries, so it feels busier at the gear bins. If you would rather have your afternoon back and the better reef than a small group, this is the pick.

GuestTours Verdict
The only Cairns half-day that sails in the morning, and it goes to Saxon or Hastings Reef, the same outer reef as the full-day boats. Back at the marina by 2pm, from $205 adult and $175 per child, with wetsuit and guided snorkel included.

Pros and cons

What we love
