2 Day Small Group · Noosa & Rainbow Beach
Discovery keeps it small: never more than 11 guests, and your guide does all the driving. You spend one night in a powered bell tent at Discovery's own camp, with a sunset platter on the beach and a BBQ under the stars. Children from five are welcome, so it also works for families who want to skip the big coaches.
Seniors 65+ pay the child fare. Family fare (2 adults + 2 children) from Rainbow Beach.
Back in Rainbow Beach around 3 to 4:30pm. 7:30am from Freedom Hostel, Rainbow Beach.
Back in Noosa around 5:30 to 7pm. Pick-up 5:20 to 5:45am from your Noosa accommodation.
The order can change with the tides and weather. Your guide confirms the plan each morning.
Discovery belongs to the same company as Dingo's, but it is a very different trip. Eleven guests at most, a guide behind the wheel and a camp with permanent bell tents. With a group that small there is no waiting for a convoy to regroup, and the guide has time to talk about the island and Butchulla culture.
The best part is the evening: a platter on the beach at sunset, then the campfire. On a clear night the guide takes you out to look at the stars. On day two the route includes Lake Birrabeen when the tides allow, a much quieter lake than McKenzie.
Know that the first day from Noosa starts before 6am, so stay in Rainbow Beach if you can. Everyone also helps with cooking and cleaning. Why it earns Best Small-Group Tour and a 4.7: no other overnight trip we compared keeps the group this small.
