K'gari Explorer 2 Day Tour Review
For families this is the easiest way to see K'gari properly. A guide drives you around for two days in an air-conditioned 4WD coach. You sleep at K'gari Beach Resort on 75 Mile Beach, not in a tent. Children are welcome from age one, and it runs from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach at the same price.
Price per person, depends on the season and how many adults share a room. Dinner is at your own cost.

The full review
Most of the backpacker tours we compared are for adults only, or they put everyone in a tent. That rules them out for families. This two-day tour is the one I recommend instead. The guide drives, the coach is air-conditioned and the night is in a hotel room on the beach.
You also see more than on a day trip. The two-day tour adds the Champagne Pools and Lake Wabby. Lake Wabby is the best swim on the island, if your kids can manage the walk across the soft sand.
The downsides: the coach carries up to 40 people, the standard room has a ceiling fan rather than air-conditioning, and dinner is extra. Why it earns Best for Families and a 4.8: children from age one, a family fare and a hotel bed. Past guests rate it very highly.
