This is the general shape of the three days. Your guide sets the exact order around the tides.
Most backpackers end up choosing between a cheap camping trip and a coach tour with a hotel bed. Drop Bear sits right between the two, which makes it our top pick. You still get the part everyone talks about afterwards: driving a 4WD along 75 Mile Beach with your guide on the radio. You just finish the day with a hot shower in your own bathroom.
The Eco Retreat makes the difference. Only Drop Bear guests stay there, it is a short walk from the beach and it sits inside the dingo fence. Evenings are dinner, the campfire and a didgeridoo demonstration. Travelling as a couple? Add a private glamping tent, and do it early, because there are only seven.
Two things to weigh up. It costs more than the camping tag-alongs, and the cancellation terms are strict, so take out travel insurance. Why it earns Best Overall K'gari Tour and a 4.9: no other trip we compared combines the driving, the comfort and the inclusions this well. Past guests agree.
