The Cairns Night Markets are open every day of the year, Christmas Day included, from 4:30pm to 10:30pm. You'll find them on Abbott Street, opposite the Esplanade Lagoon.
Inside: about 70 shops of fashion, sportswear, souvenirs and temporary tattoos, a food court with licensed restaurants, dessert bars and massage shops. It's fully air-conditioned, which on a sticky evening is half the appeal.
Pair it with a swim at the Lagoon and a sunset walk on the Esplanade.
Cairns Night Markets opening hours
Monday to Sunday, 4:30pm to 10:30pm. Open every day of the year. The massage shops start earlier, from 1pm.
