The full review

If you are going to jump once in Queensland, a beach landing is the one to choose. Mission Beach gives you the reef, the islands and the Wet Tropics rainforest in one view, and you land on the sand.

Freefall runs at around 200 km per hour before the parachute opens, and then it goes quiet and slow. Your instructor carries a wrist camera, so if you want the photos or the edited video, add them when you book. Some media packages cannot be bought on the day.

For guests staying in Mission Beach, this is the easy one. The drop zone is at 39 Porter Promenade, a few steps from the beach, and there are local pick-ups. From Cairns the transfer is free but it is about two hours each way, so plan on a big day. Book an early slot, as the weather can change later on.

Why it earns Best Beach-Landing Skydive and a 4.7: the setting is hard to beat, local pick-ups make it simple, and the price includes insurance and your certificate. The catch: you must be 16 or older, and there is a surcharge from 94 kg.
